John Sosa Trustham is an Operating Partner at CXO Partners with over 33 years of experience in enterprise technology leadership. A proven transformational executive, John turns technology from a constraint on the business into a strategic, highly reliable function by aligning people, processes, and systems with business objectives. He combines broad enterprise infrastructure and regulatory expertise with hands-on, highly technical capabilities in artificial intelligence.
Most recently, John served as Group Vice President of Infrastructure and Operations at Fisher Investments. Guiding the firm through a growth period that brought its workforce close to 10,000, he led a global technology organization of over 300 professionals. As the firm’s named Cloud Officer for its European operations under CSSF supervision, John held regulatory accountability while overseeing M&A integrations and divestiture carve-outs. He modernized core platforms, data centers, and cloud infrastructure, rebuilt the global network for eight times the bandwidth at significantly lower costs, and unified security operations under infrastructure. He developed a multi-year AI plan and helped shape the firm’s AI governance policy. His organization achieved its highest-ever employee satisfaction scores.
Before Fisher, John spent over two decades in progressive leadership roles at Seagate Technology, culminating as Senior Director of IT, Global Networks and Voice Services. He managed global networks, collaboration and voice platforms, cloud platforms, and security architecture for a 40,000-person high-tech manufacturer with factory and engineering sites spanning 40 countries. He led technology due diligence and integration for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, modernized the global WAN, and brought Google Cloud into the enterprise early, including a partnership with Google on predictive machine learning for drive failure detection.
John is a hands-on practitioner who actively builds with AI rather than simply overseeing it. He writes, integrates, and ships live AI systems and native applications, giving him insight into the technology’s true capabilities, risks, and limitations.
Alongside his role at CXO Partners, John serves as an Executive Advisor at Bridgepointe Technologies and is a member of the Akamai Customer Advisory Board. He works with enterprise and private equity portfolio companies where technology is a strategic pillar.
John holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Hardware Emphasis, from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He holds U.S. Patent 10,984,274, Detecting Hidden Encoding Using OCR, and an FAA Airframe and Powerplant License, and is fluent in Spanish.
